About the project BAUHAUS4MED

BAUHAUS4MED is a European project that aims to make sustainable living not only necessary, but desirable.

Inspired by the New European Bauhaus (NEB), the project brings together sustainability, aesthetics, and social inclusion to transform urban environments into greener, more livable spaces across the Mediterranean.

It is co-funded by the Interreg Euro-MED Programme of the European Union and implemented by a transnational consortium of cities, regions, universities, and innovation organizations.

Our mission

Sustainable development and the transformation of living areas are essential to improving quality of life in Mediterranean regions.

BAUHAUS4MED contributes to the Green Living Areas Mission of the Interreg Euro-MED Programme by amplifying innovative solutions developed in EU projects and transferring them into policies and real-world practices.

The project is structured around three key pillars:

  • Reuse — building on existing knowledge and results
  • Knowledge transfer — sharing solutions across regions and stakeholders
  • Coordination — aligning efforts to maximize impact

Empowering communities

At the core of BAUHAUS4MED is the belief that citizens should actively shape their environments.

BAUHAUS4MED operates in several Mediterranean regions, where it:

3. Launches civic crowdfunding campaigns
4. Implements pilot projects on the ground

These pilots focus on:

  • Green urban regeneration
  • Circular building materials
  • Sustainable lifestyles and products

A platform for action

This crowdfunding platform is one of the key tools developed within BAUHAUS4MED.

It builds on previous experiences such as MED BLUE CROWDFUNDING and contributes to the development of the CROWDVOCACY approach, combining:

  • Crowdfunding
  • Crowdsourcing
  • Participatory governance

Through this platform, citizens can actively support and co-create real solutions.
